About CanTeen
CanTeen’s mission is to support, develop and empower young people living with cancer through a national peer support network, and professional educational and recreational programs. The organisation was established to ensure that no young person in New Zealand living with cancer should ever have to feel alone.

About the Pilot study
Mind Warriors worked with Prof. Roger Booth and Dr. Ann Mckillop from the Auckland University Medical School. Participants completed a "Quality of life" questionnaire prior to starting JOLT Challenge in September 2010. Two groups of CanTeen members were a part of the study commencing at the same time on the same day in both Auckland and Wellington.

There were 14 participants in each group aged between 16 to 24 years old. They all received a copy of the JOLT Challenge book and journal to work through, plus they met weekly for the 10 x 90-minute workouts.

Once they completed the 10 workouts the participants once again completed the "Quality of Life" questionnaire.

Results
Analyzing the Quality of Life questionnaire results showed that, following their participation in the JOLT Challenge program, the groups had statistically significant improvements in overall Quality of Life, and reductions in fatigue and symptom experience (shown below).
